Overview
Our Registered Dietitians provide expert guidance for a wide range of health needs. For rostered patients requiring personalized care for specific medical conditions, we offer one-on-one nutrition counselling through a physician referral. We also host a variety of free educational workshops, open to the entire community, that cover general topics like healthy eating, cholesterol management, and more. About
At Queen Square, our Dietitian Services are offered in two distinct ways to best serve your needs:
One-on-One Nutrition Counselling (Referral Required)
What are Dietitian Services?
For rostered patients, our Registered Dietitians (RD) provide personalized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). During an initial 60-minute appointment, the dietitian will assess your dietary intake and medical history to develop a nutrition care plan tailored to you.
Who is this for?
Individual counselling with a dietitian can help rostered patients manage many conditions, including:
Pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes management
Heart-healthy eating (i.e. hypertension, cholesterol)
Malnutrition, vitamin, and mineral deficiencies
Pediatric nutrition concerns (e.g., picky eating)
Allergies or intolerances
Celiac disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and other digestive concerns
Food insecurity
How do patients access this service?
A referral from your Queen Square family doctor is required to access individual counselling with a Registered Dietitian.
What can patients expect?
At your initial appointment, you and the dietitian will work together to identify your nutritional concerns and challenges. The dietitian will assess your dietary intake and medical history to develop a personalized nutrition care plan. The number of follow-up appointments will depend on the nature of your medical concerns.
What support is included?
Based on your care plan, our dietitians will help you reach your goals by:
Identifying foods or fluids to increase or decrease.
Providing one-on-one nutrition education and counselling.
Supplying educational handouts and tools.
Please speak to your Queen Doctor if you are interested in our Dietitian Services for workshops and/or individualized care. We do not provide dietary advice or recommendations about a referral. For general inquiries, please contact (905) 453-1453 x1 |
Getting Started
The first step to accessing individual nutrition counselling is to speak with your family doctor. Book an appointment to discuss your health goals and ask for a referral.
